For the past few years, Bizum has been revolutionizing the way we make online transfers and payments. Therefore, after the success of Bizum as a payment method between individuals, we launched the possibility of using Bizum to pay for purchases at online merchants.

To this end, we launched the Bizum key, the first dual authentication method we created to confirm online payments quickly and securely. And although today the Bizum key is in disuse, since the payment request method is used, we tell you all about this ancient validation service.

What was the Bizum Key?

The Bizum Key was a 4-digit personal numeric key that functioned similarly to a PIN. Therefore, the Bizum Key was a security system that guaranteed the possibility of making secure online payments.

Thanks to the Bizum key the user had an authenticity factor that ensured that only the account holder could approve payments, adding an additional layer of security.

How were online purchases validated with the Bizum Key?

The Bizum key worked in a very simple way, like everything to do with Bizum. And in this case, with three simple steps the user could validate their purchase:

1. The user selected the Bizum payment option in the online store options.

2. He added his phone number and his Bizum password.

3. He then received a password from his bank, which was in charge of validating each transaction.

The user just had to wait for his purchase to arrive and enjoy it!

How to validate online purchases with payment request

As everything in life evolves. And since Bizum is at the forefront of security issues, we have incorporated a new validation system in our online commerce service.

This method is called “payment request” and, as the name suggests, this method sends a request to the user to confirm the payment in the bank’s own app.

It is a form of double verification that provides a higher degree of security since the purchase must be accepted from the bank’s app, whose access is protected by username and password.

For this reason, all institutions have now migrated to this service, because as technology advances, so does Bizum.

Is it safe to pay online with Bizum?

Online payments with Bizum are totally secure, immediate and very convenient! In no case we will charge you a fee to pay with Bizum in stores. Within your bank’s app you will be able to check the movements and purchases made with Bizum since they are made directly from your bank account.
