We know that Bizum is a much-loved project, both inside and outside our country. And this, dear Bizumer, is something we saw coming. That’s why, since the origins of its creation, we have worked with an international vision of Bizum in mind.
In order for you to know everything there is to know about Bizum International we have prepared this article where we talk about this Spanish banking project that serves as a reference for an international model, both ready to interoperate with solutions from other countries and to be adopted by any bank in the European Union.
Let’s start at the beginning: as we were saying, Bizum was born with an international Bizum vision since we are based on the SEPA immediate transfer standard.
Thanks to this, Bizum is ready to operate with any IBAN of a country in the euro zone. In the same way that in Spain we already associate a Spanish IBAN to a cell phone number from any country, Bizum international is prepared to do the same with an IBAN from other countries in the Euro zone, which are those that support SEPA transfers. These transfers are immediate and carry out transactions in euros between the 27 EU member states, in a fully electronic and automated way.
Precisely thanks to the use of this type of transfers we have been able to activate Bizum International in Andorra. So, if you have friends in the principality, you can now send and receive their bizums! The three Andorran banks already have Bizum.
And as a sign that we thought of everything from the beginning, to make Bizum International a truly possible project, we chose a name that meets the requirements of pronunciation in multiple languages. And if you don’t believe it, give it a try! You can say Bizum anywhere in the world and everyone will say it more or less the same. A difference in pronunciation as subtle as for Ron Weasley to say Leviosa or Leviosaa.
Our collaborative spirit has also led us to strengthen ties with various European initiatives similar to Bizum International, with which we work to achieve interoperability among them all:
In addition, bizumer we have a news thanks to this initiative: a first experience for Bizum International payments between individuals is planned for the end of 2024. But that’s not all! Work is also underway to integrate more solutions from other countries.
As you can see, in addition to the use of Bizum International between Spain and Andorra, our ambitious vision leads us to look for new solutions that allow us to settle debts easily and securely between our European neighbors.
We have already seen that the concept of international Bizum is associated with the operation between users from different countries.
