Is Bizum only in Spain? No! You can also use it outside the country.

If you thought that Bizum is only in Spain, you are wrong. Bizum is the pride of Spanish society, pure Iberian ingenuity that, in a very short time, has been gaining followers all over Europe. That is why we are working on several lines of development that will make Bizum a pan-European payment system.

Is Bizum only in Spain? No, for these reasons

Since we were born, our vision has always been international. That’s why when developing our technology, we have based it on the SEPA transfer standard. That is, the immediate and 100% automated transfers that are used in 37 countries: the 27 countries of the European Union plus Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Vatican City..,

In Spain, we associate a national IBAN to a cell phone number from any country and, in the same way, we are prepared to operate through Bizum with an IBAN from other European countries, which support SEPA transfers.

Thanks to this system, we have advanced with the internationalization of Bizum with Andorra. That’s why you can now send and receive payments from your Andorran contacts. A first step for a trip to Europe without limits!

This is how we collaborate internationally

As we were saying, get it out of your mind that Bizum is only in Spain, because we have joined forces with different European initiatives similar to Bizum to achieve interoperability among all of them very soon. We’ll tell you about them:

• We launched the EuroPA initiative together with the Italian digital services BANCOMAT (Bancomat Pay) and Portuguese SIBS (MB WAY). This is a project to enable the users of these two solutions to make instant, convenient and secure payments with their cell phones, between them. In this way, they can continue to operate as they have been doing up to now and without the need to change their routine or get new, unfamiliar solutions.
• We also belong to the European Mobile Payment Systems Association (EMPSA), born in 2019, to establish a comprehensive, scalable and sovereign European payment system, and seeks to interconnect existing major national payment systems. They are based on the payment solutions preferred by consumers, such as Bizum in Spain (it is no secret 😊) and that, in this way, transactions between them are possible.

So is it true that Bizum is only in Spain? As you can see, Bizumer, NO! The use of Bizum between Spain and Andorra is a reality. And it’s only a matter of time before the rest of Europe joins your favorite payment system.

Using all the Bizum options is only in Spain.

As we said, forget that Bizum is only for Spain, because we have already made it clear that the European Bizum is already a reality.

However, you should know that this process depends on each entity, so each country and each bank will enable the different Bizum options according to their needs.
