Cybercrime is the order of the day. And fraudsters are becoming more and more ingenious in order to usurp information and even money from their victims. But did you know what technique works best for them? People’s goodwill.
We have therefore prepared a list of cases in which cybercriminals take advantage of the goodwill of bizumers who proactively end up sending money to the scammers.
Yes, it is. And we say it in capital letters, bold and underlined. Bizum is SUPERINSURANCE. Bizum es un servicio ofrecido por los canales bancarios, de manera íntegra. Por ello, está respaldado al 100% por los sistemas de seguridad de tu banco. La transferencia es ordenada por tu banco, que es el encargado de autentificar la información.
So where is the problem? The problem of the Bizum scam is always given because a user is tricked into making a proactive money transfer. The cybercriminal uses different techniques to get the bizumer to accept a money transfer transaction.
So, to avoid this situation, here are some of the cases we have detected so that your goodwill, or that of your loved ones, is not taken advantage of by cyber-scammers. Take note!
In this type of purchase, the Bizum Bizum scam when the buyer (scammer) pretends to be a customer interested in a product for sale, second-hand.
Then, the scammer tells us that he will make his payment by Bizum, requesting our phone number to make the payment. When the seller receives the message, what happens? In this case you are receiving a REQUEST from Bizum. The seller does not read the concept correctly
which indicates that by accepting the transaction you are paying the other user. And, therefore, at the end of the transaction, you are making a payment instead of a collection.
* We tell you the difference between sending and requesting Bizum here.
In this case, the alleged Bizum scam occurs when the fraudster poses as a seller by offering products or items on Internet sales pages at prices that can be considered quite attractive/competitive. In this way, the scammer gets the interest of the buyer, who is asked for part or even all of the money in advance.
This alleged Bizum Bizum scam is carried out as follows: the cybercriminal acts by means of an SMS message and writes to the potential victim pretending to be the Social Security. The message indicates that the Ministry has a pending payment from the Social Security for some ERTE or benefit that must be paid urgently by Bizum. To “solve” this false problem, they urge the victim to respond with a telephone number associated to Bizum in order to solve the operation by means of a Bizum request.
In this sense you must take into account something very important: neither Bizum nor your bank will ask you for data by email or other links. Never. Never. And keep in mind that it is very important to always operate from the bank’s verified channels.
We continue to abuse the good trust with this fourth situation of Bizum scam.
As you can read, all these situations have in common the goodwill and/or innocence of the people. It is very important not to make any banking transaction of any kind if you are not sure that you know the other person. So, if you have doubts: ask someone you trust.
If you have been duped and a cybercriminal has performed with you a Bizum scamBizum scam, we recommend that you carry out the following steps:
